Boasting a range of local history displays, Leadville's Heritage Museum details the colorful history of this mountain town. Once a Carnegie library (1904-1971), the heritage building became the town's museum. One of it's premier exhibits is the scale model of the the Ice Palace, which was one of the largest and most used ice palaces ever built in the United States. Drawing from the silver mining boom that brought wealth to Leadville, the National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum was established to remember the pioneers who came to the area. Found inside of a Victorian schoolhouse circa 1899, the museum boasts a range of exhibits, including a range of mining sculptures, detailed dioramas and models, a walk-through mine replicas with equipment, rock and mineral displays and much more.
